It has great info, but doesn't overwhelm my first & third grader with tons of detail. The kindle version is more difficult to use than the physical book bc the chapters aren't clearly separated. Your can't got to a specific chapter. You have to flip through page by page to find the chapter you want. That's pretty annoying when you are trying to keep young kids focused... • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Bibliophile -- Book good, but revised : This book is still an excellent book, but it is a revised edition to the original and this is NOT CLEAR from the information on the product. Several chapters on famous men in church history have been removed from the compilation in this edition. It is missing chapters on "Two Monks: Benedict and Gregory", "Gregory VII and Henry IV", and "St. Francis and St. Dominic". It is also missing the original preface, although this is just an explanation of the author's philosophy of history education and not vital to the content of the book. I wish I had known before ordering that certain chapters had been removed. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2010 )
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars from tnj+5 -- Good History Suppliment : I read aloud a chapter or two each day from "Famous Men of the Middle Ages" to my homeschooled child as she was learning about the Middle Ages. It was a good suppliment to the curriculum. Written in story form, each chapter is only a few pages long, and gives an account of a person in history. This format gives more detail and is a bit more interesting than just reading a text book. Upon the completion of the Middle Ages unit study, my daughter took a 50 question test and remarked on several occasions, "Oh I remember, we read about that!" Due to that response I am looking to purchase something similar for the study of the Renaissance. ( Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2013 )
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Cirque Du Sewell -- Pages are off : The information is great but the pages are off by a few. If you’re searching for a specific crusader, it’s going to be a few pages after what it actually says. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2021 )
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars from Michelle Unger -- Abridged : It is missing chapters that were in the original. ( Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2019 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Lorri -- A great read even outside of school : We use this book with the Tapestry of Grace Curriculum. A great read even outside of school. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2017 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Autumn -- Great book : We are using it in our homeschool studies of the Middle Ages. So far it's great :) no complaints from mom or kids :) ( Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2016 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Tara O. -- Great book : For a time period in history that has a lot of dry and boring information, my 2ns & 3rd grade students are really rnjoying this book ( Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2013 )
