• 3.0 out of 5 stars from GLW -- Disapointed : The first several books were intriguing. Good plot and characters although I was severely annoyed by Mr Blanton’s constant use of the word ‘mommy’ by a 14+ year old female. It just doesn’t happen and he needed a different way to develop Catie as an emotionally immature Savant. That said…. She still whines and hasn’t developed emotionally but decides to have sex within a DNA cousin alien after hardly any dialogue between them. It just doesn’t work. • 3.0 out of 5 stars from BSnowden -- Not the best of the lot... : Was looking forward to this but was somewhat let down. I really hope at some point the whiney kid (Catie)will grow up a bit and stop with the “mommy” moniker for her mother and ditch some of the teen angst and show a bit more maturity. Her time at the academy should have knocked that out of her I would think… She seems to meet a nice guy (it’s about time!!) and seemingly quite out of the blue jumps into the sack with him with almost no warning to the reader that they are actually feeling much other than a mild attraction. I am all for Catie having her first adult relationship but it would have been nice to see it better developed over a longer spell. Too rushed!! The whole ending also seemed a bit rushed as if the word count was running long and he had to get things wrapped up. I hope the author keeps up the good work on the series and perhaps develops the relationship between the Delphians and Helike and how they react and the other alien races of the league. Perhaps we can get a sniff of what race was responsible for the transporting of humans to Helike. I am looking forward to seeing where Mr. Blanton goes with this. • 3.0 out of 5 stars from Kevin -- One to many books : I stopped a third of the way through. I liked this series, gave first few five stars. However think series has jumped the shark. I stop and started book, after third time came back to book I asked did I care anymore about the characters? What if drop it now would I miss it? In the last 30 days I've read books on series over 10 books, about half have THE same problem too. I thank the author for so very good reads will keep an eye out for anything new. That's just fine, as the characters are easy to love and care about. I've truly enjoyed this series, especially as its tone provides a nice break from some of the everything-goes-wrong-and-people-are-always-dying style of many other SF series I read each year. When an extreme EMP collapses their wormhole, she is suddenly thrust into a civil war on a planet they hadn’t even noticed. Fortunately, the ship they rescued had a handsome prince on it. He and his family helped the Delphi League defeat the megalomaniac prince of the other country. So, Catie is once again headed for Earth. Will she make it, or find the mysterious spacefaring people who moved a doomed city’s population to this planet? And since a good bit of the pleasure I get from a story comes from learning about the environs, I enjoyed this more than I may have if it was just the next installment.
