- 5.0 out of 5 stars from America Reads Spanish -- "No library is complete without...this influential collection of poems on its shelves..." : "No library is complete without a copy of both Cantos de vida y esperanza (Songs of Life and Hope) published in 1905 and this influential collection of poems on its shelves. Rubén Darío was the revered Nicaraguan poet and father of the Spanish-American literary movement known as modernismo - a fusion of the French Parnassian and Symbolist movements. Chilean writer and scholar Ariel Dorfman calls Darío "one of the world's most splendid poets and one of the least known, particularly because of his revolutionary and hybrid style." As a diplomat he traveled extensively, and lived in Chile, Argentina, and Spain. He is extolled for bringing Spanish-language poetry into the modern era, permanently altering its course." Such as this work was included and reviewed in "The New Essential Guide to Spanish Reading" which is published by America Reads Spanish: a campaign aimed to increase the use and reading of the Spanish language through the thousands of libraries, schools and book stores in the US. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Jose Luis Flores -- Hermoso. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2000 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Mr. Benjamin Suarez Jr. -- A una Estrella : Yo quisiera saber mucho mas de lo que dicen la palabras escritas ( Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2004 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Estexu -- ¡Bien por Austral! ( Reviewed in Spain on January 13, 2013 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Leo Ss -- No Leer a Ruben Dario es como no ver. ( Reviewed in Canada on January 20, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from FabiGM -- Bien : Es una edición básica pero por el precio no se puede pedir más. ( Reviewed in Spain on April 22, 2020 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Adrián Campoy Sánchez -- Omite el prólogo. ( Reviewed in Spain on November 3, 2018 )
